The Texas A&M AgriLife Veterinary Science Certificate Program would like to announce 2 new day camps coming up October 14thand November 19th at the Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood. The October day camp is designed for students 14-18 that would like to gain experience in various working of veterinary science. Participants will learn general vet science skills and potentially have those skills signed off by a veterinarian. We will have a mock contest over breeds and instruments to finish off our day. The November camp is designed for students 11- 13 years old. These participants will learn about the Veterinary Science Certificate program as a whole as well as skills designed to get them ready to enter the vet clinic.

Holiday Classic (FREE Clinic/Show)- SAVE THE DATE November 2-3, 2024 at Bell County Expo Center

This Event is put on by D8 Agrilife Extension Agents such as Ms. Cassie! This is an awesome & FREE event! 
Definitely recommend to New exhibitors or as a great opportunity to bring new livestock.

WHAT IS HOLIDAY CLASSIC?
The Holiday Classic Clinics and Prospect Shows are intended to provide a FREE educational opportunity for new families participating in the livestock project area. The main purpose is to teach the basic principles of livestock management as they relate to facility maintenance, selection, nutrition, animal health, handling, showmanship, and transportation, facilitate the ethical care, development, and exhibition of livestock.

WHO IS INVITED?
All 4-H and FFA members in grades 3-12! NO PEEWEE EXIBITORS!!

SCHEDULE:

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd
6:00 am – Barns Open
11:00 am – All livestock must be in the barn 12:30 pm – General Session
1:30 – 4:00 pm – Individual Species Clinics

  • Beef Speaker – Jason Cleere
  • Goat Speaker – Kevin Mock
  • Lamb Speaker – Sarah Brister
  • Swine Speaker – Todd Vineyard
  • Broiler Workshop – Stephanie Klein with Texas A&M AgriLife Ext – Poultry Science

4:30 pm – Showmanship Contest

6:00 pm – Dinner provided by Holiday Classic

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd
7:15 am – Nondenominational Church Service 8:00 am – Prospect Show

8:00 am – Prospect Show

Youth must attend Saturday clinics to participate in showmanship and prospect shows.
Free Saturday evening meal. Concession stands available.

Some 2024 details:
  1. NO Entry Fee or Entry Form- Just Show Up on Saturday Morning!
  2. Animals can start moving in at 6:00 am on Saturday.  No animals can move in Friday night.
  3. All Animals MUST stay overnight if they want to show on Sunday.
  4. There will be RV hook ups available.  First come, first serve.  There is a Cost/per night.  Plenty available
  5. Shavings, we will hand out 1 shavings coupon per exhibitor/pen.  No outside shavings may be brought in.  Anything additional must be purchased from Expo.
  6. Exhibitors MUST participate on Saturday’s Clinic & Showmanship to show in the Jackpot Show on Sunday!
  7. Weight Cards will be given out at the end of the clinics on Saturday. Exhibitors & Family MUST submit their evaluation in order to receive their weight cards. Weight Cards will be due to the office by approx. TBA- 5:00 or 6:00pm (listen to announcements during clinic & showmanship)!
